For my week 2 project, I’m building a business plan to dominate social media.

1) A description of the actual results you produced/ 2) A breakdown of your workflow

I spent weeks brainstorming blog post ideas, researching tools, and reading painful insurance posts to learn what to avoid.

I outlined content to write and ideas to add to a website. I started a blog series titled “Life without XX Agency” in which I write about the business as a superhero, and what buying insurance would be like without them.

I wrote a short blog post about how AI is disrupting the insurance agency and what that means for your wallet. I used this as an example of how to harness the news cycle to produce content for readers care.

I spent 27 hours over three days listening to insurance and marketing podcasts. I read Get a Financial Life in Your 20s and 30s by Beth Kobliner in one day and brainstormed valuable life insurance blog topics from the internet and friends. I spent the rest of the week writing and tweaking the articles.

I also wrote a guide to SEO.

What I’m learning

I’m learning what insurance is, the complicated terminologies, and how to use the news cycle to drive website traffic. As soon as I saw that the Notre Dame Cathedral was on fire, I researched their insurance policy.

I’m learning how to market through websites, social media and how to create a customized plan for a business.

I set weekly posting requirements for each social media platform with ideas on how to optimize them. I also wrote a week’s worth of social media content about the following

  1. 5 Apps to prevent distracted driving
  2. Do I need Life Insurance?
  3. Intro to Life Insurance
  4. Save $ with Teen Drivers
  5. Notre Dame Cathedral Had No Insurance
  6. AI is Disrupting Insurance

I’m learning how to use the following tools:

Buffer: to schedule your social media posts
Tweetdeck: to measure your mentions and insurance posts across Twitter
Google Analytics: to measure and diagnose web traffic problems
Google Ads, Youtube ads, Facebook ads: to reach your target audience
Canva: use to create killer graphics, fast.

4) A preview of what you’ll be working on next week.

Next week, I’m either going to target an insurance company to whom I’ll provide a week’s worth of social media content, or I’ll work with a local business to improve their social media accounts using Google Analytics and new strategies. I’m working out logistics for now, but I’ll keep you guys updated.
